A legal research guide for Asia and the Pacific region, created by the library at the University of Sydney. Includes regional legal information as well as covering twenty-five individual jurisdictions. For each jurisdiction, there are annotated links to sources of legislation and cases, information about the legal system, information relating to international law (such as participation in treaties), and links to research guides.  

World Law: Vanuatu

Part of WorldLII's World Law service containing links to internet resources for the Republic of Vanuatu. Browse sections include links covering Vanuatu's governmental and inter-governmental sites, courts and legislation. There are also links to sites concerned with banking and finance, maritime law and e-commerce.Stored searches will automatically search for materials relating to Vanuatu on all of World Law, other indexes and legal journals.

Vanuatu Legislation

A PacLII database containing full-text legislation in HTML format from Vanuatu. The legislation is taken from the 1988 consolidation with subsequent acts from 1998 onwards. Act name search and browse options are provided. Other indexes provided on the site include an Index of Statutory Orders, Acts and Regulations of the Vanuatu Parliament 1980 to 2008 and a Numerical List of Revised Acts 1988. The service is hosted and developed by PacLII, the Pacific Islands Legal Information Institute, which provides free access to legislation and cases for jurisdictions in the South Pacific.

Vanuatu Magistrate's Court Decisions

A PacLII database containing decisions of the Vanuatu Magistrate's Court from 1982 onwards. Cases can be browsed by name or year, and there is a search facility. PacLII, the Pacific Islands Legal Information Institute, provides free access to legislation and cases for jurisdictions in the South Pacific. It is a joint initiative of the University of the South Pacific and the Australasian Legal Information Institute.

Court of Appeal of Vanuatu Decisions

A PacLII database containing decisions of the Court of Appeal of Vanuatu from 1984 onwards. Cases can be browsed by name or year, and there is a search facility. PacLII, the Pacific Islands Legal Information Institute, provides free access to legislation and cases for jurisdictions in the South Pacific. It is a joint initiative involving the University of the South Pacific and the Australasian Legal Information Institute.

Constitution of the Republic of Vanuatu

Full-text online version of the Constitution of Vanuatu, available on the PacLII website. The Constitution includes chapters dealing with state and sovereignty, fundamental rights and duties, citizenship, the role of the President, parliament and the National Council of Chiefs, justice, administration, land and emergency powers. PacLII (Pacific Islands Legal Information Institute) is a joint initiative involving the University of the South Pacific and the Australasian Legal Information Institute.

Justice for the Poor

Website of Justice for the Poor (J4P), a World Bank research and development program concerned with the promotion of legal reform in Kenya, Sierra Leone, Indonesia, Cambodia, Timor-Leste, Vanuatu and the Solomon Islands. There is information on the different aspects of law covered by the program including land and natural resources, conflict, crime and violence, local governance, gender, customary law and labour disputes. There are also pages detailing the work being done in each country. Briefing papers and reports can be downloaded from the site.

Introduction to researching South Pacific law

Online guide to South Pacific law written by Peter Murgatroyd who is Information Resource Centre Manager at the Secretariat of the Pacific Regional Environment Programme (SPREP) and Coordinator of the Pacific Environment Information Network (PEIN). The guide was published in 2006 (and updated in 2022) on the Globalex website and made freely available by the Hauser Global Law School at the New York University School of Law.
