Finding the Law of the Micro-States and Small Jurisdictions of Europe

Online guide, written by Andrew Grossman who is a retired U.S. Foreign Service Officer, to finding sources of primary and secondary law for “small jurisdictions” of Europe -defined as “political entities having a population under one million persons”. The guide was published in 2024 on the Globalex website and made freely available by the Hauser Global Law School Program at the New York University School of Law. The author gives links to academic works on micro-states and to law libraries that hold printed materials on these jurisdictions.

Indigenous Law Portal

Large open-access collection of links to documents and websites concerning indigenous law, provided by LLMC Digital. Originally developed by the Law Library of Congress, the portal has sections covering the United States, Canada, Mexico and the circumpolar Arctic, and there are plans to extend its coverage to South America. Includes general websites, such as the Tribal Court Clearing House in the US and the Assembly of First Nations in Canada, as well as websites of individual tribes and NGOs and sites dealing with particular subjects (land tenure, environmental law and so on).

Legal Frameworks for Nuclear Activities

This part of the Nuclear Energy Agency (NEA) site provides information on the legal frameworks for nuclear activities in OECD and NEA member and partner countries. Country profiles cover a range of topics including the regulatory regime, regulatory authorities and advisory bodies. There is information on nuclear installations, radioactive waste management, radioactive substances and equipment, non-proliferation and transport. Links are given to primary legislation and to other NEA publications. The NEA is part of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD).

Prime Minister’s Office

This English-language version of the website for the Icelandic Prime Minister’s Office includes translations of the Constitution of the Republic of Iceland, the Administrative Procedures Act (No. 37/1993) and the Information Act (No. 140/2012). It also provides policy summaries, news and basic information about the Prime Minister’s Office.

Ministry of Welfare: Legislation

Collection of Icelandic legislation translated into English, on the website of Iceland’s Ministry of Welfare. About fifty acts and numerous regulations are available, in pdf format, with amendments; topics include employment, equality, health, housing, welfare and social security. A disclaimer warns that the translations are provided for information only.

World Law: Iceland

Iceland section of WorldLII's Countries service. The site offers browse and search facilities highlighting resources dealing with courts and case law, legislation, law journals and governmental sites. A stored search will automatically search for materials relating to Iceland on all of the WorldLII catalog or databases. This section of WorldLII was developed from work initiated by Australasian Legal Information Institute (AustLII).

Nordiska Rådet / Nordiska Ministerrådet

Website of the Nordic Council and Nordic Council of Ministers. The site provides information about official cooperation between the governments and parliaments of Norway, Denmark, Sweden, Finland and Iceland. It also has facts and figures about the Nordic region, news. The Resources section includes teaching materials for schools, maps, photographs and links to dictionaries of the Nordic languages. The site is available in English and the Scandinavian languages.

Althingi

Althingi is the name of the Icelandic parliament. Basic information is available in English and Danish, covering the nature and operation of the Icelandic parliamentary system. There is also a list of current members of parliament. More detailed information concerning parliamentary business and debates is offered in Icelandic only. The legislation of Iceland is also published here (in Icelandic), in the section entitled "Lagasafn".
