Finding the Law of the Micro-States and Small Jurisdictions of Europe

Online guide, written by Andrew Grossman who is a retired U.S. Foreign Service Officer, to finding sources of primary and secondary law for “small jurisdictions” of Europe -defined as “political entities having a population under one million persons”. The guide was published in 2024 on the Globalex website and made freely available by the Hauser Global Law School Program at the New York University School of Law. The author gives links to academic works on micro-states and to law libraries that hold printed materials on these jurisdictions.

Inatsisinik nalunaarutit

Greenland’s official legislation database, in Greenlandic and Danish. Provides Greenlandic laws and regulations, Danish legislation applicable to Greenland, and treaties applicable to Greenland. Can be searched by key word, year and/or number. Searches can be filtered by type of law, whether in force or repealed, and other criteria.

 

Naalakkersuisut

Website of the Naalakkersuisut which is the government of Greenland. It was established, along with the Inatsisartut  (Greenland parliament), following the home rule referendum in 1979 and had its powers extended under the Self-Government Act of 2009. There is information on the work of the President’s Department and various ministries. Official publications including agreements, statements and annual reports are also given. The site can be viewed in Greenlandic and Danish only. 

Inatsisartut

The Inatsisartut is the Parliament of Greenland, which was established following the home rule referendum in 1979 and had its powers extended under the Self-Government Act of 2009. Its website has information on the work and membership of the various committees, along with profiles of the President and members of the Inatsisartut. Greenlandic, Danish and English versions of the site are available.
