Finding the Law of the Micro-States and Small Jurisdictions of Europe

Online guide, written by Andrew Grossman who is a retired U.S. Foreign Service Officer, to finding sources of primary and secondary law for “small jurisdictions” of Europe -defined as “political entities having a population under one million persons”. The guide was published in 2024 on the Globalex website and made freely available by the Hauser Global Law School Program at the New York University School of Law. The author gives links to academic works on micro-states and to law libraries that hold printed materials on these jurisdictions.

Office of the Ombudsman, Gibraltar

Website of Gibraltar’s Public Services Ombudsman, who deals with complaints about government departments and agencies. A few Special Reports (reports of cases where injustice has been found) are available on the site, together with the Ombudsman’s annual reports, which include case summaries. A description of the history and work of the Ombudsman is also provided.

Ombudsman Association

The Ombudsman Association is a membership organisation for ombudsmen from the UK, Ireland, the Channel Islands, the Isle of Man and Britain's overseas territories. The website includes lists of the voting and associate members of the Association. They cover a wide range of topics such as Energy, Housing, Legal Services, Prisons and Probation, and Parliamentary Standards. Entries give a brief note of responsibilities with contact addresses, phone and fax numbers, and email and website addresses.

Gibraltar Finance Centre

Web pages for the Gibraltar Finance Centre, established to advise on banking and business opportunities in the British Crown Colony. The site provides a commentary on Gibraltar's constitution and legal system, including brief discussion of Gibraltar's relationship with the United Kingdom, European Union and the European Economic Area. A series of notes on the Constitution, Court System, Common law and Statute law, legal profession and Financial Services Commission are also available.

World Law: Gibraltar

Part of WorldLII's Countries service covering Gibraltar, a British Crown Colony. A range of browse and search features is provided. Link collections provide access to sites relating to Gibraltar's Courts and Case Law and Government. A stored search will automatically query all of WorldLII for items about Gibraltar. The WorldLII service is being developed by the Australasian Legal Information Institute (AustLII).

Official website of the Gibraltar Financial Services Commission, which reviews the operation of Gibraltar's legislation and the effectiveness of financial services supervision. The site presents information about the Commission and its work, in press releases, the annual review and newsletters. Additional general guidance information about the jurisdiction of Gibraltar, Financial Services, Banking Market, Insurance Market, Investment Services Market and Trusts and Companies is also available.

Laws of Gibraltar

The Laws of Gibraltar website is provided by the Government of Gibraltar and includes all consolidated primary and secondary legislation currently available and a database of all judgments published in the bound volumes of Gibraltar Law Reports, 1812 onwards. The Laws can be searched by title, keyword, legislation number, date or type of legislation and there is also an index of legislation by title, giving the law number, commencement date and topic. The Judgments database can be searched by keyword, title (party name) and/or case number and filtered by court and/or date.

Government of Gibraltar

This is the official website of the Government of Gibraltar. It provides access to detailed information about the structure, operation and current activities of government departments and general information about Gibraltar. There is a copy of the Constitution, recent official press releases, budget and expenditure reports and government documents. The site also includes links to the web pages or information about the various government departments including health, education, tourism, the parliament, electronic commerce, the environment and social services.
