Legal Frameworks for Nuclear Activities

This part of the Nuclear Energy Agency (NEA) site provides information on the legal frameworks for nuclear activities in OECD and NEA member and partner countries. Country profiles cover a range of topics including the regulatory regime, regulatory authorities and advisory bodies. There is information on nuclear installations, radioactive waste management, radioactive substances and equipment, non-proliferation and transport. Links are given to primary legislation and to other NEA publications. The NEA is part of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD).

German Law Archive

Website of the German Law Archive which publishes cases, statutes, literature and bibliographies on German law in English its aim being to make German law accessible to any interested users. There is a selection of German legislation along with selected judgements of the Constitutional Court, Federal Court of Justice and higher regional courts. An extensive bibliography of titles on German law in English arranged by legal subject is also given on the site.

Bibliothèque numérique Cujas

Online library of more than 150 digitised works from leading French law library Bibliothèque Cujas in Paris. The selected titles cover the medieval period and the 18th, 19th and 20th centuries. The majority cover the law of France, but 30 are about German law. All the works are searchable by title, author, subject and date; full-text searches are available for some works. All can be browsed by title and filtered by period or subject. They are in pdf format. Most are in French, but some are in Latin or German and the site interface is in French.

Virtuelles Datenschutzbüro

German portal project to provide advice and support relating to data protection and freedom of information to both commercial and personal users. Users can choose from a selection of keywords which both lead to a collection of full text documents, including relevant German legislation, and provide a gateway to resources on other sites. It is also possible to search the site using Boolean operators. The project offers a wide range of training events and details are provided.

Die Bundesregierung

Website of the German Federal Government. Provides detailed information about the roles of different departments and the work of the Chancellor. The News (Aktuellen) section includes a page detailing the latest proposed legislation. The Service section includes a Laws page and a glossary of political terms which includes outlines of government policy on key issues. The main pages are available in German, English and French.

Bundesministerium der Justiz

Site of the German Federal Ministry of Justice, which is located in Berlin. Provides information about the role and work of the organisation. Topics covered include citizen’s rights, administration of justice, constitutional/administrative law, human rights, commercial/business law, digital technology and penal law. Users have the option to search the site by keyword, using wildcards/truncation, and can also restrict the search by date, relevance and the type of document required. The main language is German but an English language section is also available.

Parlamentsspiegel

Parlamentsspiegel is the parliamentary documentation system of the German states (Laender). It provides databases of parliamentary papers (Drucksachen), parliamentary debates (Plenarprotokolle) and official gazettes (Gesetzblaetter), covering various date ranges. Some Federal publications are also available, notably the Federal Official Gazette (Bundesgesetzblatt), from 1980 onwards. To search for bills and laws only, see ‘Gesetzgebung’. The site is entirely in German.

DIP

DIP is the documentation and information system of the German national parliament, the Bundestag. It provides parliamentary papers – including bills – and parliamentary debates from December 1976 onwards. The main DIP page covers the 16th parliamentary term onwards (18th October 2005 - ). Users may browse this section of the site by theme, or select the dedicated search facilities for consultations (Beratungsabläufe), activities (Aktivitäten) or documents (Dokumente). For documents from earlier parliamentary terms, select ‘DIP 8.-15 Wahlperiode’. The site is entirely in German.

Bundesgesetzblatt

Every issue of the Bundesgesetzblatt, the German Federal Official Gazette, is provided free of charge on this website by the official publisher, the Bundesanzeiger Verlag. Part I (Teil I) contains laws and ministerial orders and is available from 1949 onwards; part II (Teil II) contains international agreements and is available from 1951 onwards; the Index (Fundstellennachweis) is also provided. The free version can be browsed by date, but for searching, printing, copying or downloading a subscription is required. The site is in German only.

ICL - Germany Index

Part of the ICL (International Constitutional Law) project managed by the University of Bern, Switzerland. Provides an unofficial English-language translation of the German Constitution, which is known by the name Grundgesetz (Basic Law). It includes amendments made up to and including the 29th amendment of July 29th 2009.
