The English-language version of this government website provides translations of South Korean legislation. Users can search, or browse law by subject area or by the relevant government department. A list of recently updated legislation can be found on the home page. There is also an overview of the South Korean legislative system and procedures. The Korean-language version provides Korean legislation, treaties and cases.

Korean Intellectual Property Office

The official website of the Korean Intellectual Property Office, the government agency responsible for dealing with intellectual property law and issues in South Korea. The site offers an overview of the Office’s history and outlines its structure and activities. There is a small section with English versions of key Industrial Property legislation. Annual Reports are available dating back to 2000, as well as the Office’s statistics (such as patent registrations) from 1948.

Constitutional Court of the Republic of Korea

Official website of the South Korean Constitutional Court established by the Constitution in 1988 to protect people's fundamental rights and check governmental powers. The site gives profiles of the justices and background information on the history and organisation of the court. There is a guide to the jurisdiction of the court which covers impeachment, dissolution of political parties, competence disputes relating to governmental bodies and constitutional complaints brought by individuals.

Supreme Court of Korea

Website of the Supreme Court of the Republic of Korea which is based in Seoul and consists of a chief justice and 13 justices. The Supreme Court is the highest court in Korea and hears appeals from the High Courts and the appellate divisions of the District Court. The site provides profiles of the Chief Justice and the Justices and a brief history of the Korean judicial system. There is a description of the organisation and functions of Korea's 3 tiers of courts along with background information on judges and judicial administration.

Statutes of the Republic of Korea

Collection of South Korean legislation translated into English, provided by the Korea Legislation Research Institute, a government-funded body. Comprises thousands of Korean statutes in English, browseable by subject, area of law and other criteria, and also searchable. Information about the Korean legislative system is also given and there is an English-language glossary of legal terms.

Asia Legal Information Network

The Asia Legal Information Network (ALIN) was set up by the Korea Legislation Research Institute (KLRI) in 2003 as a voluntary network of governmental, academic and research organisations willing to provide access to legal information and resources managed by each of them. ALIN offers a small collection of articles, laws, regulations and conference papers. Some resources are restricted to members only.

Ministry of Government Legislation - Republic of Korea

The Ministry of Government Legislation of the Republic of Korea (South Korea) is responsible for reviewing and ensuring the constitutionality of legislative bills. There is a limited English-language version of its website with information about the history and functions of the ministry. The Korean-language version includes publications on legislation-related topics, a legal newsletter, the Comprehensive Legal Information Service System, the Digital Legislation Supporting System and a Database of Law History. 

Laws and Bills

The Laws and Bills page of the South Korean National Assembly's website provides English translations of the Constitution, the National Assembly Act and a few other laws relating to the National Assembly of the Republic of Korea. It also includes English-language summaries of recently-passed bills.

National Assembly of the Republic of Korea

Official website of the National Assembly of the Republic of Korea (South Korea). Provides organisational, background and historical information about the National Assembly outlining its legislative and fiscal powers. There is a profile of the Speaker and other members of the Assembly. The Constitution, the National Assembly Act and a few other laws are available in English and there is information on parliamentary proceedings, including schedules and press releases. English and Korean versions of the site are available.
