Law Society of Jersey

The Law Society of Jersey is the governing body for both solicitors and advocates in Jersey. Its website includes a description of the Jersey legal system entitled “The role of the Jersey courts and legal profession”. It also has a guide to making wills in Jersey, the text of the Society’s Code of Conduct, relevant legislation and directories of members.

Carey Olsen is a Channel Islands law firm which covers a range of practice areas, including company and commercial, banking and financial, restructuring and insolvency, trusts, property, employment, competition, litigation and dispute resolution. The Publications section of its website provides a collection of articles produced by the firm on the law of Jersey and Guernsey, together with summaries of recent Jersey and Guernsey judgments. British and Irish Legal Information Institute

The British and Irish Legal Information Institute (BAILII) provides free access to legislation, cases, law reform reports and other legal materials from the United Kingdom, Jersey, Ireland, the European Court of Human Rights, the European Court of Justice and the EU's General Court. The cases are from the higher courts and tribunals; most date from the last two decades or so, but BAILII also provides a collection called Leading Case Law by Subject, and many of these cases are much older. Materials may be browsed by jurisdiction, title and year.

States of Jersey

Official Jersey public information website. Describes the structure and composition of the States of Jersey and its departments, including the Law Officers Department, the Judicial Greffe, the Assembly and the Bailiff's Chambers. Offers information about the work of government and Jersey's constitutional relationship with the United Kingdom. Latest press releases issued by the States, departmental annual reports and consultation papers are also available.

Jersey Legal Information Board

Official Jersey law site, produced by the Jersey Legal Information Board. Provides case law, primary and secondary legislation, journal articles and related information. Revised laws, laws as enacted and annotated laws are available. The Jersey Law Reports are provided from 1985 to 2009 and unreported judgments from 1997 onwards, together with practice directions, court rules and other court information.

Assembly of the States of Jersey

Official website of the States Assembly of Jersey in the Channel Islands.The site has background information to the history and development of government in Jersey and looks at the composition and functions of the States Assembly. There are profiles of the members and officers of the Assembly including Senators, Conn?tables and Deputies and details of procedures and standing orders are also provided. Information on the work and membership of the various committees responsible for the government of Jersey are also made available on the site.
