Legislative Assembly of Alberta

The Legislative Assembly of Alberta is the official parliament of Alberta province of Canada, and its website provides services to the Members of the Legislative Assembly and the public. The site contains information on members and their duties, transcripts of Bills and their Amendments, Assembly documents, Alberta Hansard and Records of the House, including Standing and Special Committees. The Bills section includes copies of proposed Bills and approved Amendments.

Alberta Courts

Official website for the Alberta Court of Appeal, Court of Queen's Bench and Provincial Court. The site provides a database of judgments of the Court of Appeal and Provincial Court from 1998 onwards, and most judgments are available within 48 hours of issue. Judgments can be viewed in full-text in PDF format online. A free-text search engine is included. The site also gives court descriptions, notices, hearing lists, court calendars, practice directions and publications. Subscription services are available to provide RSS feeds of new material added.

Alberta Law Reform Institute

Website for the Alberta Law Reform Institute, formed in 1968 by agreement and cooperation between the Province of Alberta, the Law Society of Alberta, and the University of Alberta, and previously known as the Institute of Law Research and Reform. The Institute is exceptional in involving government, academics and the legal profession in the law reform and review process from the very beginning, and conducts research into law and the administration of justice, and makes recommendations on matters of law reform.

Legislation of Alberta

Full text legislation of the state of Alberta in Canada made freely available on the website of the Alberta King's Printer. Legislation can be browsed alphabetically, by department or searched by keyword or ISBN. A complete list of acts and/or regulations can also be viewed. Codes administered by the Government of Alberta, the Government of Canada and the Canadian Standards Association are also provided on the site.

Law Society of Alberta

The Law Society of Alberta is the self-governing body for lawyers in the Canadian province of Alberta. Information provided for the public includes guidance to the compaints procedure and a searchable Lawyer Directory. There is a schedule of disciplinary hearings and notices of suspensions. The Law society's journal, Advisory is made freely available in PDF format along with a selection of ad hoc reports, forms and a page of links to Canadian and Alberta legal resources.

Court of Appeal of Alberta decisions

A CanLII database containing all decisions rendered by the Court of Appeal of Alberta from January 1998 onwards with selected decisions from 1984 also provided. The documents are supplied by the Court's official website. Decisions can be searched or browsed by date. A list of recent cases and Court practice rules are also supplied. CanLII, the Canadian Legal Information Institute, is a key service providing free access to Canadian primary legal materials.

Alberta Statutes and Regulations

A CanLII database containing Consolidated Statutes and Regulations of Alberta province in Canada. A collection query form supports full-text and title searches with Boolean functionality and collection selection options. An alphabetical jump index gives access to title browse lists. CanLII, the Canadian Legal Information Institute, is a key service providing free access to Canadian primary legal materials. The service has been designed by LexUM at the University of Montreal (using software developed by AustLII) on the initiative of the Federation of Law Societies of Canada.
